Learning about gardening

We went out to Kathleen's to help put some plants in her garden. Kathleen is planting all kinds of stuff - melons, peppers, beans, tomatoes - you name it. Frances helped dig holes and put melon plants in the ground. Abigail entertained herself by using a trowel to pulverize dirt clods. After a while, Kariana took the girls indoors to make cookies. Once the noisy children were gone, a gopher made its appearance. It let me get really close and take its picture. I had never seen a gopher before! We had a great time, and perhaps the girls will remember that vegetables don't originate at the grocery store!
